You can set up alerts for each variable when they are connected to a specific target. By selecting the alert-symbol at the variable page or clicking the ‘alert’ button at the chart ioTORQ EMIS will analyze if there is an assigned target. If there is already a target you can create alerts for each target. Otherwise you must create a target before customizing an alert.
You can set up different rules for each alert. While creating the rules, you can alter the kind of calculation (e.g., total minimum, maximum), time steps (e.g., second, minute, hour), operators (greater, less than, equal), units (e.g., kWh, W, %), and the time zone.
If any value of the variable reaches your created rule, you can receive individual notifications from ioTORQ by email, Microsoft Teams, or SMS.
Send alerts to Microsoft Teams
To receive alert notifications directly in your Microsoft Teams channel, you can follow these steps to generate a webhook URL and configure your Alert Manager Form.
Step 1: Generate the Microsoft Teams Webhook URL
- Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the team and channel where you want to receive notifications.
- Click on the three dots (…) next to the channel name and then select “Workflows”.
- Choose the workflow “Post to a channel when a webhook request is received”.
- The first time you use Microsoft Teams workflows, you’ll need to authenticate with your Microsoft account by adding your Microsoft account credentials.
- Click on the “Next” button after authentication.
- On the next page, you will be able to choose the Team and Channel. Note that these fields will auto-populate.
- After filling out all the required details, select “Add workflow”.
- A new dialog will appear with the webhook URL. Copy this URL.
Step 2: Enter the Webhook URL in the Alert Manager Form
To receive alert notifications in a Microsoft Teams channel, enter the MS Teams webhook URL in the designated text field in the Alert Manager Form.
- Open the Alert Manager Form and navigate to the section “Notifications”.
- In the “Microsoft Teams” notification option, paste the copied webhook URL into the text field.
By following these steps, you can successfully set up alert notifications to be sent to your Microsoft Teams channel.
Send alerts by SMS
SMS alerting is currently in preview and is disabled by default. Contact support@iotorq.com to enable it.
Configure recipients for SMS alerts
If SMS alerts are enabled for your account, you will see a "SMS" option for notifications when configuring an alert.
After clicking on the SMS option, you can select up to 10 recipients among the existing users in your account. Note that these users should have entered their mobile phone number as part of their profile and they will have to opt-in for SMS alerts.
Subscribe to SMS alerts
To allow receiving SMS alerts, users have to explicitly opt-in in their user profile. To do so:
- Navigate to your Profile Page.
- At the bottom of the page, check the checkbox stating, "Check this box to accept to receive SMS alerts ..."
- Make sure to add a valid mobile number in the designated field to receive alert notifications.
Note: Only a given user can provide their consent to receive SMS alerts. No one else can do this on behalf of another user. This is necessary to comply with SMS regulations.
How to Opt-Out of Receiving SMS Alert Notifications
To withdraw from receiving SMS alerts, you can reply "STOP" to any SMS alert text message. This will unsubscribe you from further SMS notifications. If you wish to subscribe again in the future, follow the previous step to opt back in.
