Targets can be added to each variable as a way to compare the dataset to some other user-defined metric. Targets can be used to set a threshold for good vs bad performance, observe variable trends over time, define a cutoff for setting an alert, provide visual comparisons against a benchmark value, and much more.
Targets are associated with individual variables and can be created by navigating to the Targets tab when viewing a variable. Once the target is made, it will be available for use in charts and matrices in dashboards.
There are four types of targets you can create:
- Fixed Range
- Equation
- Comparison
- Regression
Including targets on the actual chart for each variable is optional. You can toggle this feature via Show on graph when you create or edit a target. Each target can be modified after it is created.
You can also add color ranges that will be used to display the difference between variable and target values in Gauge and Matrix items. You will have to define the different intervals using the Color Selection panel. To color them, click the paintbrush icon to open the Color Selector.
Each target type is explained in more details in the articles that follow.
