Connect Claude to your ioTORQ EMIS account to ask questions about your energy data, targets, alerts, and other supported EMIS information directly from Claude.
The connection is read-only. Claude can retrieve supported EMIS data, but it cannot use this connection to modify that data.
Before you start
Before users can connect their EMIS accounts, an owner or administrator of your organization's Claude account must add the ioTORQ EMIS connector.
If you are a Claude owner or administrator: Follow For owners/admins: Add ioTORQ EMIS to Claude below.
If ioTORQ EMIS is already available in your organization's Claude connectors: Skip to For users: Connect your EMIS account.
Each user connects using their own EMIS account and can only access the EMIS information they are already authorized to view.
For owners/admins: Add ioTORQ EMIS to Claude
If you manage your organization's Claude account, add the ioTORQ EMIS connector once. Your team members can then connect using their individual EMIS accounts.
What you'll need
You'll need your organization's EMIS address.Take the address you normally use to access EMIS and add /mcp to the end.

1. Add a custom connector
In Claude:

Name: ioTORQ EMIS
MCP server URL : https://yourcompany.iotorq.com/mcp
Make sure the address:
Uses your organizations's EMIS domain
Ended with
/mcp
Select Add.
3. Sign in to EMIS
Claude will redirect you to EMIS. Sign in using your usual EMIS username and password.
4. Allow access
Review the requested access and select Allow. The ioTORQ EMIS connector provides read-only access to supported EMIS data. It cannot modify that data
The connector is now available to your organization. Each team member must still select Connect and sign in using their own EMIS account. Users only receive access to information that their individual EMIS account is authorized to view.
5. Confirm the connector
After authorization, you'll be returned to Claude. Open ioTORQ EMIS under Connectors. Claude should display the tools available through the connection, such as browsing your organization, retrieving variable data, and accessing alerts and targets.
The connector is now available to your organization. Each user must still connect using their own EMIS account. Users can only access information that their individual EMIS account is authorized to view.
For users: Connect your EMIS account
Once your Claude owner or administrator has added ioTORQ EMIS to your organization, you can connect your individual EMIS account.
1. Find the ioTORQ EMIS connector
In Claude:
Open Settings.
Select Connectors.
Find ioTORQ EMIS in the connector list.
2. Connect
Select Connect next to ioTORQ EMIS.
3. Sign in to EMIS
Claude will redirect you to EMIS. Sign in using your usual EMIS username and password. Your EMIS credentials are entered directly into EMIS; Claude does not receive your password.
4. Allow access
Review the requested access and select Allow. The connection provides read-only access to supported EMIS information, including:
Variable configuration and settings
Variable telemetry data
Targets and target values
Alerts
Claude cannot modify this data through the ioTORQ EMIS connection.
You're connected
That's it. You can now use Claude with ioTORQ EMIS. Claude can only access the EMIS information that your individual EMIS account is permitted to view. Connecting Claude does not give you any additional permissions in EMIS.
Verify your connection
Once you've connected to ioTORQ EMIS, start a conversation in Claude and ask:
Which sites can you see in ioTORQ EMIS?
Claude should return the sites your EMIS account has permission to access.
If it does, your connection is working and you're ready to start asking questions about your EMIS data.
Tool permissions in Claude
The first time Claude uses an ioTORQ EMIS tool, it may ask for your permission before retrieving information.You can select Allow once to approve that individual request.
If permitted by your organization's policies, you can select Always allow to let Claude use the tool without requesting approval each time.
The ioTORQ EMIS tools available through this connection are read-only.
Disconnect ioTORQ EMIS
To remove the connection:
Open Settings → Connectors in Claude.
Open ioTORQ EMIS.
Select Disconnect.
Claude's access to your EMIS account stops immediately. Disconnecting Claude does not change or delete anything in EMIS.
Troubleshooting
I can't find ioTORQ EMIS in Claude
If ioTORQ EMIS isn't listed under Connectors, it may not have been added to your Claude organization yet.
Ask your Claude owner or administrator to follow For owners/admins: Add ioTORQ EMIS to Claude above.
