Connect Microsoft Copilot Studio to ioTORQ EMIS

Connect ioTORQ EMIS to an existing Microsoft Copilot Studio agent to securely access your organisation's EMIS data directly from the agent.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Access to Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • An existing Copilot Studio agent that you can edit

  • Your organisation's ioTORQ EMIS MCP server URL

Your EMIS MCP server URL will typically look like: https://yourcompany.iotorq.com/mcp

1. Open your agent and add a tool

Open Microsoft Copilot Studio and select the agent you want to connect to ioTORQ EMIS.

Go to Tools, then select Add a tool. In the Add tool window, select Model Context Protocol (MCP).

2. Add an MCP server

Select Add an MCP

3. Enter the ioTORQ EMIS connection details

Enter the following information:

  • Server name: ioTORQ EMIS

  • Server description: "Connect to EMIS to get insights from your data"

  • Server URL: Enter the ioTORQ EMIS MCP server URL provided by your organisation. For Example: https://yourcompany.iotorq.com/mcp

Under Authentication:

  1. Select OAuth 2.0.

  2. Select Dynamic discovery.

  3. Select Add.

4. Create your connection

Under Connection, select Create new connection.

On the next screen, you can optionally enter a display name for the connection.

Select Create.

5. Sign in to ioTORQ EMIS

You will be redirected to ioTORQ EMIS to authorize the connection. Sign in with your ioTORQ EMIS account if prompted. Review the requested access and select Allow.

6. Add ioTORQ EMIS to your agent

After authorization, you will return to Copilot Studio. Confirm that your ioTORQ EMIS connection is selected, then select Add.


Test the connection

Use your agent's test experience and ask a question that requires information from ioTORQ EMIS. For example:

Which sites can I access in ioTORQ EMIS?

If the agent returns information from EMIS, the connection is working.


Disconnect from ioTORQ EMIS

To disconnect ioTORQ EMIS from the agent, open the agent in Copilot Studio, go to Tools, and remove the ioTORQ EMIS tool.
